Dr. Stone Thayer completed his undergraduate studies in Finance and Management at Washington University’s John M. Olin School of Business. After working briefly as a financial analyst in New York, he went on to earn his dental degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Thayer also proudly served in the United States Naval and Marine Corps Amphibious Forces, where he received both the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
After completing his active duty service, Dr. Thayer pursued advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he also earned his medical degree. His comprehensive training included facial trauma, jaw and facial deformities, facial cosmetic procedures, TMJ disorders, maxillofacial pathology, implantology, and soft tissue reconstructive surgery.
Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery at Charleston Area Medical Center. He further expanded his expertise through a reconstructive and cosmetic surgery preceptorship in Miami.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Thayer has contributed to academic medicine. He previously served on the faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was involved in resident and student education and was a member of the Cleft and Craniofacial Team. His research interests include craniofacial deformities, trauma, and reconstruction.
