Q. Should I bring my insurance card with me to the office?

A. Yes, if you have dental insurance benefits, the information on your insurance card is needed for the office to file a claim with your dental insurance company. Your medical card may be needed if you will be having oral surgery.

Q. Will you bill my insurance company for me?

A. Yes, as a courtesy we will submit a claim on your behalf.

Q. How do I know if my insurance company will cover my visit or certain services.

A. Please refer to your insurance handbook or call your insurance company with questions. It is your responsibility to know your insurance coverage, as you are ultimately responsible for the entire balance. At your request, a pre-treatment estimate form can be submitted to your insurance carrier prior to treatment to obtain an estimate of your insurance benefits. The “estimated” amount not covered by your insurance is payable at the time of services unless other arrangements have been made.

Q. Did you submit to my insurance?

A. Read each line of your statement, there will be a line that informs you that your visit has been submitted to insurance. Insurance takes on average 4 to 6 weeks to pay.

Q. How will I know when my insurance has paid?

A. Your insurance company will issue you an EOB (explanation of benefits).
Please review for questions they may have for you regarding your claim. Generally the patient will receive their EOB before the dental office receives payment.

Q. Why doesn't my insurance pay for this?

A. There is no regulations as to how insurance companies determine reimbursement levels, resulting in wide fluctuation. In addition, insurance companies are not required to disclose how they determine these levels.

Q. What do I do if I disagree with how much my insurance company has paid?

A. If you have a problem with the insurance company’s payment, contact your employer or insurance company.
